Article Processing Charges
The Australian Journal of Otolaryngology (AJO) is the official journal of the Australian Society of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery (ASOHNS). AJO is an open-access journal co-funded by the ASOHNS and AME Publishing Company. To cover the cost of publishing services and providing free access to readers, an article processing charge (APC) of $1250 AUD applies to papers accepted after peer review. An article processing charge waiver may be applicable in the following scenarios according to our waiver/discount policy:
1. Full waiver for papers whose authors are current members of ASOHNS or current OHNS trainees in the RACS Surgical Education and Training program. For request of APC waiver based on this policy, please inform the publishers at the time of submission of your article by email to the editorial office (ajo@amegroups.com).
2. Papers whose corresponding authors are from low-income countries (please refer to e.g. the World Bank classification of low-income economies: https://datahelpdesk.worldbank.org/knowledgebase/articles/906519-world-bank-country-and-lending-groups) can request a waiver as part of the submission process.
3. Papers whose authors are from lower-middle-income countries with last year’s GDP below $200 billion are eligible for a 50% discount of the APC (reference - World Bank 1st July 2023).
Please refer to the World Bank classification to distinguish between low-income countries and lower-middle-income countries.
4. Requests from other authors for APC waivers and discounts will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and may be granted in cases of financial need.
Please note the waiver or discount request must be made with a specific reason based on the APC policies at the time of submission. Requests made during the review process or after acceptance will not be considered. To request a waiver please contact: ajo@amegroups.com.
